Getting Started with Therapy
A clear guide to getting started and what to expect in therapy
A Thoughtful, Collaborative Process
Many of the women who reach out to me have already spent time trying to understand their patterns on their own. They may have read books, listened to podcasts, or even tried therapy before. What they’re often looking for is a deeper level of understanding and change.
Our work together focuses on helping you connect the dots between your current experiences and the patterns that developed earlier in life. Using approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR therapy, we focus on understanding the deeper roots of anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and relational patterns so that change feels meaningful and lasting.
The Process
1. Schedule a free consultation
We’ll briefly talk about what you’re hoping to work on and see whether my approach feels like a good fit. You’ll also have space to ask any questions.
2. Complete your intake session
If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your intake session. This 50-minute appointment helps me understand your history, what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you hope will change.
The conversation is relaxed and collaborative so we can begin identifying patterns and meaningful areas of focus.
3. Begin the work together
After the intake, sessions are 90 minutes and typically scheduled every other week. This format allows us to explore things more deeply without feeling rushed while giving you time between sessions to reflect and integrate what we discuss.
Therapy Designed for Depth
Sessions in my practice are structured to allow for deeper exploration and meaningful change.
Maybe you’ve already invested so much time, energy, and money into therapy and you still feel like it’s not working. You’re defeated and feel like therapy will have to be a part of your life forever. You’re looking for the thing that will actually help you heal and transform.
Fully Virtual Therapy
Every-Other-Week Scheduling
Because so much can be explored within a 90-minute session, most clients schedule appointments every other week. This rhythm allows time between sessions for reflection, integration, and noticing patterns as they arise in everyday life.
90-Minute Therapy Sessions
Sessions are longer than traditional therapy appointments so there is enough time to slow down, explore what is happening beneath the surface, and engage in deeper work without feeling rushed.
Personalized session mapping
After each session, I provide a detailed personalized summary mapping the parts and patterns we explored. Many clients find this helps the work continue unfolding between sessions and allows us to move more directly into meaningful work at the next appointment.
What Therapy With Me Is Like
Clients often describe therapy with me as thoughtful, collaborative, and deeply clarifying.
During sessions, we take time to slow down and explore what is happening beneath the surface of your reactions and patterns. I reflect back themes and connections that help clients make sense of experiences that previously felt confusing or overwhelming.
Many clients say that our conversations help organize thoughts that once felt tangled and bring clarity to patterns they have struggled with for years.

If you’re curious about working together, scheduling a consultation is simply an opportunity to explore whether the process feels right for you.
I offer virtual therapy for women throughout Michigan and Georgia, specializing in anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, relational patterns, and trauma-informed therapy using EMDR and Internal Family Systems.
